Craveable Cast On 2015 Vol 1

Welcome to the first craveable cast on of 2015! This year I am trying to stop my cast-on-itis by showcasing lovely patterns that I find in my Ravelry feed. I’m hoping that inspiring others to cast on these beauties will help curb my need to create them! (really I just want to see as many of these pretties in the world)

Very Pdx Hat by Liz Abinante

Liz use to be the dyer of some my favorite yarn! Now she writes killer knitting patterns. Her Saroyan Shawl is the only knitted item my mother wears constantly in the winter. This simple hat excels at shows off hand painted yarn. I always seem to have one skein of Madelintosh hanging about.

Chill Chaser by Amy Miller

Amy Miller’s Chill Chaser for the Plucky Knitter is everything I love about Amy’s pattern’s and Plucky’s yarn, Simple and stunning. Hopefully after I finish my Bees to Honey I will be able get my hands on some plucky sport to make one of these for spring!

Freshly Fallen By Amy Miller

Yet another simple and beautiful Amy Miller pattern. I have already had a dream about this sweater in Tosh Merino Light yarn in red and white. Thinking that needs to become a reality before next winter!

Beatitude Cardigan by Katy Banks

Another goal of mine in 2015 is to push myself with more challenging knitting techniques. Steeking is one of the hardest mental blocks I have when it comes to knitting. I have a good sewing machine I am confident in my ability to sew. I’m always terrified that I will mess up the cutting. I have even seeked sleeve cuffs once and it went fine. So Beatitude in a lovely cool blue colorway could be just what is needed to get me over the fear.

Gwennie Vintage Bucket hat pattern by Abigail Bailey

Be still my heart… this hat.. this hat screams to be knit in ever color of the rainbow to match all my full skirted 50s styled dresses. This one I don’t think I’ll be able to keep off the needles… I have some hot pink Maxima that calling it’s name… And Felting is another technique that I shy away from. So this checks all sorts of boxes.

That’s gonna do it for this week. What are you itching to cast on? leave a comment below! Happy Knitting everyone!
