This year I am trying to temper my yearly desire to cast on every new pattern I see. So Right Now I have 4 projects I am working on. Only 2 are newly cast on, much better than last year. On top of that I am in the process of setting my studio up better. I am also looking into how to make beautiful fabric walls to block it off from the rest of the house so I feel more like I am in my own little world. I would also love to make use of the light sources in that room more. But enough about my never ending quest for the perfect crafting space. Let’s talk some more about my knitting.
In the above two pictures you can see my favorite project right now. the Aviary Cowl by Katie White. I am so in love with the color combo I ended up with. It is knit out of TML in Porcelain (a lovely gift from a ravelry de-stasher) and Coquette (maybe my favorite Madelinetosh colorway ever) I plan on lining this sweet little cowl with The left over yarn from my next project.
This lovely hat is a Rikke Hat by Sarah Young. The Yarn is good old Tosh Merino Light in Wilted Rose. I am holding the yarn double since the hat is written for DK. I thought I would hate this because it is rows and rows of Garter in the round. Purling has never been my favorite thing. But I am finding it kind of nice. I enjoy the way the yarn is knitting up so I think that helps!
And Finally my first sock of 2014, since I am planning on knitting 14 I better get going! It doesn’t look like much now but I am about to start the patterning on it. It is going to be the Diagonal Lace Socks by Wendy Johnson. This is one of those balls of yarn that i have been being too picky about what it becomes. So now it is going to become a beautiful pair of socks for the spring. The yarn is dyed by the wonderful indie dyer Bumblebirch here in Portland. Her yarn is so stunning in person. Please please please go check her out! This color way is Ranunculus. I just realized I am knitting with a lot of pink. Maybe it’s all the gray weather that’s making me want pops of color!
What have you cast on? Any crazy knitting goals for 2014?
