quiet time

Hello Loveies! I am not lost, I am just enjoying some alone time. Collin is off in San Fransico (lucky boy) at WWDC. I’ve been here holding down the fort. Working on a few knitting/sewing designs, a knitting proposal (that was rejected) and, learning to make a better cup of coffee with the Chemex. It’s been laid back for sure. Much needed in fact as I’ve been kind of in a worry spiral for the past few weeks. Typical me, worrying about something that hasn’t yet happened.  One day I hope to get past that kind of stupid behavior.

Before Collin left I had a chance to weave another scarf for a friend of ours who’s birthday always falls on WWDC.  For this one I used a variegated merino for the warp and a solid merino for the weft. I really like how different i looks from the scarf I made before. It almost has a faux plaid look!

I also checked out the Oregon Public House this week. They are a non profit bar in my neighborhood. They had a rocking salad and I really want to get back there and try their polenta. It was totally chill during lunch when i was there. It’s kind of awesome that they have already raised 2,000 dollars for their 10 charities. I picked My Voice Music, they help bring music to underprivileged youth. I can see myself chilling their for tots and a beer some evenings this summer.

How has your week been? anything exciting happen or coming up?

  1. My husband really wants a Chemex… he’s all into HOW we make the coffee, whereas I can’t really tell the difference between drip and machine, for instance… although I do know French press is grainy! I also trust him for picking out the coffee… single origin, high elevation, low-toxin, all that. He actually wrote a blog post about it. πŸ˜‰ http://www.grassfedgeek.com/2013/02/how-to-make-bulletproof-coffee.html I do appreciate the coffee nerdiness!!

    1. Coffee Nerdiness is pretty much the norm around here. I named my blog after my favorite pour over method. I highly recommend a Chemex they are super simple and easy to clean up. The Chemex, for sure has a radically different taste than machine or pressed. The best way to describe it is that it tastes clean. Clean up is where i really dig the chemex, just pop the filter in the compost and give it a quick rinse with hot water. We have just about every way to make coffee except a vacuum pot. But I really want one of those just because they are super pretty!

  3. i am really bad with worrying about things before they even happen. need to just remind ourselves to chill and let it all unfold first!

  4. Oregon Public House looks like an amazing place to turn those worries and fears into laughs over beers πŸ˜‰

  5. Your weaving is so cool! I’d love to see some photos of it in progress sometime if you ever fancy posting any on your blog. I’d love to get a Chemex but haven’t a clue how to use one. One of my friends runs her own coffee roasting business, Dear Green, back in my hometown of Glasgow, and every time she comes to visit London she takes me to all these amazing coffee places and gives me a real coffee education – I love it!
