Skirt- Self Drafted
Shirt Gap (old)
Hello. If you are looking at the actual site you may notice things are quite different. I hope you enjoy this bold new re-design. I really wanted it to be something different so i’ve done away with the sidebar and made content the star.
Let me tell you about one of my new favorite skirts. This was my very FIRST self drafted pattern. Seriously I’m in love with it. I have a few other fabrics I think it would look amazing in. I also would really like to make a shorter one as well. I love this fabric. It was a total impulse buy when I went to Bolt a few weeks ago. It washes and drapes nicely. I can’t wait to pair this skirt with a crinoline.
This week crept up on me. then BAM out of no where it was full to the brim with parties and hanging out with friends, and a new loom. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better I met April Rhodes while picking out fabric for a new Staple Dress!!! and sewing LOTS of sewing. I think this may have been my most prolfic week yet, 5 garments start to finish with another half way done AND one cut out ready to go. Two of those garments were brand new patterns (the Scout Tee and the Miette skirt) I can’t wait to share them all with you.
I’ve been working with fiber since I was young. When I was elementary school and again in high school two of my weaving pieces were shown off at the state capital. I would weave ribbons and lace and strings of fake pearls into very textural wall hangings. So I was got really excited when I was watching The Knit Girllls and was introduced to rigid heddle looms. So this week I also got my Schacht Cricket Loom. I had been thinking about getting a 20 inch Ashford Knitter’s Loom but wound up picking up the 15 inch Cricket here in town at Twisted instead. I wove some small sample mug rugs with the yarn that came with my loom. Then I warped the loom the same night and started working on a Malabrigo scarf pictured above. I used Verdes for the warp (the up/down pieces) and Nostaligia for the weft (the left/right). It’s been super fun weaving again. I’m think i may need to insatiate a schedule for all of my crafts so they get equal love.
