I have been on quite sewing kick. I’ve made 3 skirts, a dress/tunic (that needs to be altered a bit) and 3 tops. I promise I’ll have outfit post for each one of these soon! Until then here is a really washed out photo from my MBA. and a detailed shot of the beautiful bias tape i used to finish the neckline and and armholes
Looking forward to the next few weeks I realized that the Kentucky Derby is in less then 2 weeks! (eek!!!) Collin and I went to a Derby Party last year. It wasn’t the best one ever so this year we are going to try one at the local bourbon bar. I need to make my derby dress and hat! Right now I am trying to decide between two patterns in the same general color scheme!
First up there is the Ava Dress by Victory Patterns.
I love how lady like this dress is. While it is stunning in Black and White and I may eventually make one in that combo, I think that it could use some color.
Aqua Cotton broadcloth for the main color of the dress!
Some sheer white lace fabric for the top.
Yellow taffeta for the ruffles.
My other choice is Hazel by colette patterns
In a Classic Seersucker Turquoise and White Seersucker
This dress is a bit less fancy and would allow for a lot more going on with my hat!
Speaking of my hat I cannot wait to uses this yellow russian netting
Do you plan to do anything fun for the Kentucky Derby?
Wow! Lots of fun sewing and projects coming up. Can't wait to see the dresses!
